Sex Therapy for Individuals and Couples Across Colorado
Online sessions available statewide | In-person intensives in Boulder & Denver

Struggles with sex and intimacy are more common than most people realize—but that doesn’t make them any less painful. You might be dealing with shame, low desire, mismatched libidos, erectile issues, difficulty orgasming, trauma responses, or tension with your partner(s).

Maybe you’ve been told you have a "porn addiction" or feel out of control around sexual behaviors. Or maybe you’re recovering from religious or cultural messages that left you disconnected from your body or pleasure.

Sex therapy offers a confidential, nonjudgmental space to explore your concerns and develop a more empowered, pleasurable, and connected relationship to sex—however that looks for you.

Common Concerns I Support:

  • Sexual shame, anxiety, or pain

  • Low or mismatched desire

  • Out-of-control sexual behavior (OCSB), often presenting as self-diagnosed “porn addiction”

  • Sex and intimacy after trauma

  • Body image and embodiment challenges

  • Purity culture and religious trauma recovery

  • Erotic communication and exploration

Sex therapy can be deeply healing for individuals and transformational for couples. Sessions are always paced with consent, comfort, and nervous system attunement in mind.

Psychedelic Integration & Preparation Therapy in Colorado

Psychedelic Therapy Support for Healing, Insight, and Integration
Online across Colorado | In-person intensives available in Boulder & Denver

Psychedelic experiences can bring profound insight, emotional release, and even spiritual awakening—but they can also stir up old trauma, confusion, or leave you unsure how to bring what you experienced back into everyday life.

I offer psychedelic preparation and integration therapy to help you make meaning of your experience, stay grounded in your nervous system, and apply what you learned in tangible, embodied ways.

This work is especially beneficial for:

  • Individuals seeking deeper intimacy, embodiment, or relational healing

  • Those exploring their sexuality, spirituality, or inner parts through altered states

  • Sexual trauma survivors processing difficult journeys

Please note: I do not currently offer psychedelic-assisted therapy. I work with clients who engage with altered states outside of therapy and want professional support before or after those experiences.

1:1 COACHING

If you’re looking for customized guidance around intimacy and/or psychedelic work, coaching might be a good fit for you. More information to come at my EvolvingIntimacy.co website (in development). Reach out to me for a free consultation about working with me in one of my signature coaching frameworks.

For now, if you’re curious about the differences between coaching and therapy. . .Coaching containers are typically shorter-duration than therapy and focus more on the here and now and the future you want to create. We do address the past but do not take the deep dive into one’s past that often happens in therapy. As such, targeting coaching can be a great complement to therapy and/or other healing work you’ve done or are currently engaging in. Action steps and plans are emphasized to help you reach your goals.

About Bria

Bria Tavakoli

Sex Therapist, Intimacy Coach, Psychedelic Guide

I'm a sex and relationship therapist in Colorado who helps people move from shame, confusion, or disconnection into deeper intimacy—with themselves and with others. I work with individuals and couples statewide via online therapy, supporting clients through desire discrepancies, communication breakdowns, out-of-control sexual behavior (OCSB, often presented as “porn addiction”), sexual trauma, and relational patterns that feel painful or overwhelming.

Many of my clients come to me seeking more confidence in their sexuality, stronger emotional connection with their partner, or relief from internalized shame. Together, we explore what it means to build trust in your body, repair ruptured intimacy, and reconnect with your capacity for pleasure and presence. My specialties include sex therapy, psychedelic integration and preparation (non-assisted), and working with women on self-worth, embodiment, and relational empowerment.

My approach blends Internal Family Systems (IFS), attachment-based work, DBT, and Brainspotting therapy, a somatic modality for trauma resolution. Sessions are trauma-informed, client-paced, and tailored to your nervous system. Whether we’re addressing religious trauma, sexual shame, or spiritual disconnection, I offer an empathetic space where your full self is welcome. And if you’re good with a little compassionate straight talk, a sense of humor, and a lot of depth—we’ll probably work well together.

I bring over 17 years of experience as a yoga and meditation teacher into the therapy room, helping clients stay connected to their bodies as they heal. As the daughter of an immigrant and a purity culture dropout, I hold space for those working through layered histories around identity, sexuality, and belonging. I’m LGBTQ+ allied, kink-aware, and sex worker friendly.

In addition to my clinical background, I also hold a master’s degree in journalism from Columbia University. I’ve long been obsessed with story, narrative, and the human condition—which deeply informs how I hold space for the stories we inherit, internalize, and are ready to rewrite.

I earned my master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Adams State University, engaged in sex therapy training through the Sexual Health Alliance, and studied psychedelic integration with Psychedelics Today. I’ve presented at the European Federation of Sexology Conference, the Colorado Counseling Association Conference, and Denver’s Open Minds Expo. I was also a featured guest on the Psychedelics Today podcast, discussing the intersection of sex, intimacy, and altered states.

When I’m not in session? I’m probably hiking in the Colorado foothills, baking something decadent, or stargazing, perhaps with a cat in my lap.
